To see why, take a look at this chart for 元9 material.

This 元9 filter is perfect for that job even on modern lenses. Shoot a lot of pictures and enjoy photography! Many people including myself think it produces better colours than the D300.
#NIKON L35 AF FILTER SIZE HOW TO#
I recently upgraded from a $50.00 point and shoot to a Nikon D200 and am itching to learn how to use it. Then insurance would be another possibility. Under normal conditions use a lens hood which probably will protect your lens much better. My suggestion is to put on a protective piece of glass whenever the weather or condition otherwise demand it (salt water spray, dust storm). Therefore many people left it on at all times and over the years some brains created the "protection explanation". In the film days a UV cut filter was a must under sunny conditions and particularly at high altitudes, say hiking in the mountains in order not having the images ruined by UV. "My grand dad did it so therefore I am doing it too but I don't really know why." There is normally no logic to do it but has become our heritage from those who started photography before World War 2. The habit of putting on a "protective filter" has become part of our photographic culture. A flat glass in front of your lens may produce reflections you would not like to see in your images.Īlso - what lens filter would be best for general protection for my 50mm 1.8 and 35mm f2? Modern digital cams do not need UV protection but it will not do any harm.

Yes, this is a high quality filter which can be used for protection if you like. Is it one I can just keep on the lens to protect it? Thus 元7 will cut wavelength shorter than 370 nm.

The "39" is the cut wavelength and stands for 390 nm (nanometre). I am not very familiar with filters and really dont know when to use this filter. I have an 元9 filter that came with a used 28mm 3.5 lens that I bought off ebay.
